Greata water capillary mat installation options:
Ceiling installation – heating/cooling:
-
- under limestone or plaster – KNAUF MP75 ;
-
- under plasterboard – it is recommended to use KNAUF Thermoboard or Thermoboard Plus that have high thermal conductivity, along with Fermacell gypsum fiber boards;
-
- under a decorative grid on in an open way – typically used in departure hall, industrial buildings, shopping centers;
-
- installation in a reinforced concrete ceiling panels or concrete floor ,and Rough wall.
-
- under decorative metal ceiling panels.
Wall installation (if ceiling space is insufficient) – heating/cooling:
-
- under plaster – KNAUF MP75 or limestone;
-
- under plasterboard – it is recommended to use KNAUF Thermoboard or Thermoboard Plus that have high thermal conductivity, as well as Fermacell gypsum fiber boards.
Underfloor heating and “gentle” floor cooling
Convective heating/cooling devices with water capillary mats (for high cooling capacity, as well as to reduce humidity in the room) Read more about convective devices ›
Non-standard use in roof ceiling,greenhouses, swimming pools, heating or cooling of various surfaces).
Installation of water capillary mats in ceiling plaster
It is possible to attach the capillary mats directly to the concrete floor or to lay the capillary mats on plasterboard and further finish with plaster.
Capillary tube mats are fixed to the ceiling with double-sided adhesive tape or with construction clamps.
Installation of water capillary mats in the ceiling behind plasterboard
It is necessary to lay the insulation material on the ceiling side above the capillary mats, as well as to ensure maximum contact of the capillary mats with the gypsum boards.
Capillary mats are laid in strips between the metal frame profiles.

If the ceiling or floor space is insufficient to provide the heating or cooling capacity required for the room, it is recommended to install walls.This is usually necessary if there is a large heat loss through the building structures (for example, the room has large windows) or large heat emissions are planned in the room.
The system of capillary mats in the walls effectively provides both space heating and cooling, but it is necessary to plan in good time where paintings or other objects are to be placed on the walls, so that later drilling of holes does not mechanically damage the capillary mats. For these reasons, it is recommended to place a maximum of capillary plates in the ceiling, which is the largest free space in the room, or in the upper or lower part of the walls.
Installation of water capillary mats in the floor – underfloor heating and “comfortable” cooling
Benefits of installing water capillary tube mats in the floor:
-
- up to 25% faster heating compared to other “warm” floor technologies,
-
- requires a smaller layer of material (1-3 cm depending on the chosen material) above the capillary plates,
-
- faster installation and lower operating costs.
Capillary tube mats can be laid under various floor decoration materials, preferably under different types of tiles or laminates. For wooden flooring (which acts as an insulator due to the properties of wood), the required power must be carefully calculated.
